I'm attending the UTS Fashion Design Graduate show tonight at UTS in Sydney. To support friends plus scout for the next big thing to feature on Daily Gloss, it should be a night of fabulous talent. A quick peek over on their student website and I've picked out some collections that are sure to impress. Be sure to check back here later this week for some exclusive pics and interviews.

There's no denying Mr Lee has firmly grasped a spot at the top of Australia's fashion game. His latest offering for Autumn/ Winter 2012 is no exception. The collection sports his signature slashes and layering, yet is re imagined in leather and heavy duty cottons for protection from the winter chill. Here are my top pics- they certainly are cool.

BILINEAR from cara stricker on Vimeo.

When people ask me what I studied, I say fashion design. Kind of. You see, I don't really have any intention of being a designer in the near future. Down the track, maybe. For now, discovering new talent and making pretty pictures is much more my thing. But, never one to waste an opportunity, I found spending hours surrounded by budding new designers gives you a good insight into the type of talent that's going to succeed. That's why, after watching her graduate collection come together with awe and innovation, it's no surprise UTS alum Talia Shuvalov is having a bit of a moment. Re located to NYC, the designers knitwear pieces have people talking. Her new collection takes knitting and makes it mod - think sporty silhouettes mixed with neon highlights. Check out the terrifically trippy collection video directed by Cara Sticker.

arnsdorf for tomorrow.

Photobucket

Online Australian boutique For-Tomorrow have stocked up on some of down under's best design talent, including one of my personal favourites Arnsdorf. With minty denim and nude silks, it's a summer collection deserving of an outing to the beach or a summer bbq. Check out the rest of the for-tomorrow collection here. They also stock Josh Goot, Fernando Frisoni and Chronicles of Never....I'm apologising to your savings account in advance.

Lots to do this week as I'm styling a shoot with XSSAT photographer Xiaohan Shen on Sunday. Lot's of pretty clothes being pulled for a whimsical, cinematic shoot concept. Look out for these beautiful pleated pieces by Lovers & Collaborators.

I don't care what anyone says about the Olsen twins, I've always loved them. The tiny duo have re invented themselves many times, and thank god they did, otherwise the world would be without The Row. Vogue's interview with the pair is an interesting read- shining a new light on the former child stars. Read the full article here.

dion lee for cue.

I styled this hot pink Dion Lee for Cue blazer at work yesterday and I have to say, it is simply devine. Beautifully made, with nice fabric and stitch detailing, it has made it's way to the top of my most wanted list.

After a day of shooting jackets and sweaters at work yesterday, I'm all inspired to purchase my winter woollies. Lusting after these knits and jackets at Net-a-Porter.

Don't get me wrong, I like colour. But I don't usually wear it. Except maybe turquoise blue. Otherwise my wardrobe seems to be strictly neutral. Tommy Ton's shots of Proenza Schouler's new collection are making me rethink this. Need some earthy tones stat.

I love Lover. And I love this easy slouched look from their latest collection. I styled the skirt at work yesterday in the Lilac colour, it's absolutely beautiful. Soft to touch, long and lose.

Oh no. I must confess. I think I have a sunglass addiction. I just got two new pairs this week...eek! I'm just hoping it stays sunny so I can get some wear out of them. These are some of the more recent additions to my ever growing collection...My new favourite is the tortoiseshell and dusty pink retro Anne et Valentin.
